Level Guided

WCAG remediation for online stores

Served with an ADA website complaint? Fix the code, not the widget.

We repair the accessibility failures in your store's theme itself, verify them with a screen reader, and hand your attorney a remediation report. Fixed price. Ten business days. No sales call.

  • Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce themes
  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the standard every complaint cites
  • Monitoring so the second lawsuit doesn't find you

Free scan of your store

You get the same WCAG 2.2 AA scan we run before quoting, with each failure mapped to a theme section. Usually within one business day.

What a scan looks like

Four weeks after being sued, the store still failed.

A handcrafted soap brand on Shopify was named in a Southern District of New York complaint on September 29, 2026. We scanned its homepage on October 26. Nothing had been fixed. These are the failures a plaintiff's expert cites first, and the ones we repair in the theme.

How it works

Scan, fix, verify, report. Then keep watching.

Day 0

Scan every template

Homepage, collection, product, cart, checkout and account pages, plus the forms. Each failure mapped to the exact theme section and Liquid file.

Days 1–7

Fix the theme

Our engineers edit your theme through Theme Access on a duplicate, so your live store never breaks. Alt text, labels, contrast, focus order, keyboard traps, skip links.

Days 8–9

Verify like a plaintiff would

A tester runs the full purchase path with NVDA and VoiceOver, keyboard only. Anything they can't complete goes back to the engineers.

Day 10

Report, publish, monitor

Before-and-after report for your attorney, theme published, and monthly re-scans with alerts whenever your theme changes.

Why not an accessibility widget

Overlays don't change your code. Plaintiffs know that.

A widget adds a script on top of the page. The underlying theme still has the unlabeled buttons and the missing alt text, and that is what the complaint quotes. Courts and plaintiffs' firms have caught on, and stores with a widget installed are now sued routinely.

134 of 432ADA website suits filed in August 2026 named a store already running an accessibility widget
$1,000,000FTC penalty against the largest overlay vendor for deceptive compliance claims
45%of 2025 suits targeted a business that had been sued before

Pricing

One fixed price, quoted by the scan. Nobody calls you.

For comparison: the average ADA website suit costs a defendant $30,000 or more once settlement, legal fees and mandatory remediation are counted. Most settle between $5,000 and $25,000, and the remediation still has to be done.

  • Itemized findings mapped to WCAG success criteria, before and after
  • Screen-reader verification log of the full purchase path

What we don't promise

We are engineers, not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. No vendor can certify a website as "ADA compliant"; there is no certifying body and no safe harbor. What we can do is remove the barriers a complaint describes, verify that a blind user can complete a purchase, and document the work so your counsel can use it. Whether a claim settles, and for how much, is between you, your attorney and the plaintiff.

Who you are dealing with

A small team that does one thing.

Level Guided is run from Orlando by Naveed Chinoy, who has spent his career building and running online services businesses for US small companies. The remediation work is done by a dedicated engineer who edits Shopify themes all day and a tester who checks every fix with a keyboard, NVDA and VoiceOver. No account managers, no sales team, no call unless you want one.

We started because store owners kept being sued twice: once for the original barriers, and again after paying for a widget that changed nothing in the code.

Questions store owners ask

Before you send us the store address.

Will my store look different afterwards?

Almost everything we fix is invisible to a sighted shopper: alt text, button labels, form labels, heading order, keyboard handling. The exception is color contrast. If your theme uses light grey text or pale buttons, a few colors will get one notch darker. You approve those changes before they go live.

Do you need my Shopify password?

No. You add us as a collaborator through Shopify's Theme Access, which gives us the theme files only. We work on a duplicate of your theme; your live store changes only when you publish, and you can remove our access the moment the work is done.

I've already been served. Is it too late to fix the site?

No. Plaintiffs' firms settle fastest when the barriers are already gone and there is nothing left to enjoin, and 45% of suits in 2025 targeted a business that had been sued before. Fixing the site is how you avoid the second one. Talk to your attorney about the complaint itself; we give them the evidence of the work.

Can you make the lawsuit go away?

No, and nobody honest can promise that. We are engineers, not lawyers. We remove the barriers, verify them with a screen reader, and document everything so your attorney can use it. Whether and how a claim settles is between you, your attorney and the plaintiff.

Why not just install an accessibility widget?

A widget adds a script on top of the page. The theme underneath still has the unlabeled buttons and the missing alt text, which is what the complaint quotes. Stores running a widget are now sued routinely, and the largest widget vendor paid a $1 million FTC penalty for claiming otherwise.

How do you know the fixes work?

Every change is re-scanned automatically against the WCAG 2.2 AA rule set before it can be merged, and a tester then walks the full purchase path with a keyboard only, with NVDA on Windows and with VoiceOver on a Mac. Anything they can't complete goes back to the engineer. You get the recordings.

What happens after the ten days?

We publish the fixed theme, hand you and your attorney the before-and-after report, and re-scan the store monthly for three months (included). Themes change, apps inject new elements, and the monitoring catches regressions before a plaintiff's expert does.
